Residential
This project is situated along the Belgian coastline, near the renowned golf club of Knokke. The three story holiday home is designed to evoke the essence of its surroundings, including the sea, horizon, and dunes. These natural elements have been abstracted and reimagined into a cohesive design language that permeates the interior.
A lowered skirting subtly mirrors the horizon, evoking a sense of boundlessness inspired by the sea. Horizontally veined travertine, arranged in block compositions, reflects an interpretation of the dunes and their shifting, fragmented views. Soft curves within the bespoke furniture and carpentry draw influence from yacht design, further enriching the maritime concept and enhancing the relaxed holiday atmosphere.
The material palette brings together sandy wall finishes, brushed larch wood, and a poured concrete floor embedded with small pebbles and fragments of shell. This combination creates a tactile and serene identity, perfectly attuned to the coastal environment. Custom designed bedframes and sofas complement carefully sourced rare vintage pieces, adding a layer of individuality and depth to the interior.
